Research & Public Policy.

Driving Industry Standards.
Shaping Better Outcomes.

At RIC Solutions, we believe that lasting improvements in building performance, restoration practices, and insurance claim outcomes are achieved through evidence-based research and strong industry advocacy.

Our team works at the intersection of science, industry, and policy — partnering with government agencies, universities, and industry bodies to improve standards, influence regulations, and deliver better outcomes for property owners, insurers, and the wider community.

Research That Leads to Change.

Our research focuses on practical, real-world issues in building science, restoration, and environmental health, including:

  • Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) – Identifying pollutants, understanding health impacts, and developing better monitoring and remediation methods.
  • Mould & Moisture Management – Investigating causes, remediation strategies, and long-term prevention solutions.
  • Post-Disaster Recovery – Assessing restoration methods and timelines following floods, storms, and fires.
  • Emerging Contaminants – Researching risks and control measures for hazards such as silica dust, asbestos, and chemical residues.
  • Impact of Building Codes & Standards – Evaluating how regulations affect building performance, claim outcomes, and occupant safety.

Our findings are not kept in the lab — they are integrated into our consulting services, shared with industry, and used to advocate for improvements in national practice and policy.

Leading the Development of Australian Standards.

RIC Solutions plays a direct role in shaping the rules that govern our industry.

  • Our Managing Director chairs the Standards Australia Committee ME-094, leading the introduction of the ANSI/IICRC S500 (Water Damage Restoration) and S520 (Mould Remediation) standards into the Australian market.
  • We actively contribute to technical working groups, ensuring Australian Standards reflect global best practice and local conditions.

Advocacy for Better Building Codes & Consumer Protections.

We use our expertise to advise regulators, industry bodies, and policymakers on how to improve safety, quality, and efficiency in the built environment. This includes:

  • Recommending code changes to address emerging building science challenges, such as condensation and mould.
  • Advocating for stronger compliance frameworks in restoration and remediation.
  • Supporting initiatives that improve consumer protections in insurance and construction.

Partnerships That Make an Impact.

Our research and advocacy work is strengthened through collaboration with:

  • Leading Australian and international universities
  • Government agencies and regulators
  • Industry associations and insurers
  • Restoration, construction, and health experts
